Counselling

Phiona provides compassionate counselling support for individuals, children, couples, and groups, creating a supportive and welcoming space where people feel heard, understood, and valued. She works alongside each client to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences at their own pace. Alongside talking therapy, Phiona uses creative and Somatic approaches to support self-expression, personal growth, stronger relationships, and greater confidence in managing life's challenges.

Individual Counselling

Whether you are facing anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, loss, life transitions, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, counselling can provide a supportive environment to reflect, heal, and grow. Phiona works collaboratively with each client, building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and respect.

Sessions are available in person from Phiona's peaceful garden therapy space in Havant, a private and nurturing setting that encourages reflection, grounding, and emotional wellbeing. Online counselling is also available, providing flexibility while maintaining the same level of care, connection, and support.

Phiona's approach is humanistic, trauma-informed, and neuro-affirming, recognising that every person's experiences, strengths, and needs are unique. She believes that healing and growth are fostered through genuine connection, emotional safety, and being truly heard and understood.

Alongside talking therapy, Phiona incorporates somatic and creative approaches where appropriate, recognising that emotions and life experiences can be held within the body as well as the mind.

Couples & relationship counselling

Relationships are at the heart of our well-being. When connection feels strained, communication becomes difficult, or life’s pressures begin to impact a relationship, having a safe and supportive space to explore challenges together can make a profound difference.

Phiona offers compassionate, professional couples and relational counselling, designed to help relationships strengthen understanding, rebuild trust, and navigate change with greater resilience. Whether you are experiencing conflict, communication difficulties, intimacy concerns, the impact of life transitions, or simply feeling disconnected from one another, counselling can provide an opportunity to pause, reflect, and work towards positive change together.

Working collaboratively, Phiona creates a respectful and non-judgemental environment where each person can feel heard and valued. Through open conversation and tailored therapeutic approaches, couples are supported to develop healthier patterns of communication, deepen emotional connection, resolve challenges more effectively, and build stronger foundations for the future.

Children & Young people

Children and young people today face a wide range of pressures that can have a significant impact on their emotional well-being and mental health. As they navigate the challenges of growing up, many experience feelings of stress, anxiety, low confidence, overwhelm, and uncertainty that can be difficult to manage alone.

School-related pressures, exam stress, academic expectations, friendship difficulties, social media influences, bullying, family conflict, separation or divorce, bereavement, and major life changes can all affect how a child or teenager feels about themselves and the world around them. Sometimes these challenges may show up as anxiety, anger, withdrawal, low mood, difficulties with sleep, changes in behaviour, or struggles with concentration and motivation.

Recognising that not all children find it easy to talk about their feelings, Phiona incorporates creative and age-appropriate approaches into her work. Through creative activities, mindfulness, play, storytelling, art, and gentle therapeutic techniques, children and young people can communicate their experiences in ways that feel natural and comfortable for them.

Creative Counselling

Creative Counselling is a dynamic and holistic form of therapy that honours the many ways people experience, process, and communicate emotions, especially when words are not enough or feel too difficult to access. It moves beyond traditional talk-based therapy by integrating a range of expressive, sensory, and experiential tools that allow clients to explore their inner world symbolically, intuitively, and in a way that feels natural to them.

This approach can be particularly supportive for children and young people, neurodivergent clients, and individuals who have experienced trauma, all of whom may find it challenging to express thoughts and feelings through conventional dialogue alone. Creative methods provide a gentle and engaging way to build trust, increase self-awareness, regulate emotions, and process complex experiences at an individual pace.

Phiona may incorporate a variety of creative approaches, including art materials, creative expression, storytelling, sandplay, and clay therapy. Sandplay offers a safe, symbolic space where clients can create scenes and explore experiences that may be difficult to put into words, while clay therapy provides a tactile and grounding way to express emotions, explore patterns, and connect with thoughts and feelings through the creative process.

No artistic or creative experience is necessary. The focus is not on producing artwork or creating something "good," but on using creativity as a tool for self-expression, exploration, and healing. Creative counselling can help clients gain new insights, develop confidence, strengthen emotional resilience, and discover new ways of understanding themselves and their experiences within a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship.

Walk and talk

Walk and Talk Therapy, sometimes referred to as ecotherapy, is a therapeutic approach that takes counselling beyond the traditional therapy room and into the natural environment. Combining the benefits of counselling with the restorative qualities of nature and gentle movement, this approach can offer a refreshing and grounding alternative to indoor sessions.

For many people, walking or siting side-by-side in a natural setting can feel less formal and more comfortable than sitting face-to-face. The rhythm of walking, combined with fresh air and connection to the natural world, can help ease feelings of stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm, creating space for reflection, insight, and meaningful conversation. Being outdoors often allows thoughts and feelings to emerge more naturally, supporting clients in exploring challenges at a pace that feels manageable and safe.

This approach can be particularly beneficial for those who find traditional counselling environments restrictive, as well as children, young people, neurodivergent individuals, and anyone who feels more at ease in natural surroundings. Walk and Talk Therapy can support a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, low mood, life transitions, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, grief, and emotional wellbeing.

Phiona has undertaken additional specialist training in Walk and Talk Therapy and incorporates nature-based approaches into her work with children, young people, adults, couples, and groups. Sessions may take place in carefully selected outdoor locations that provide a sense of privacy, safety, and connection with the natural world, while maintaining the same professional and ethical standards as traditional counselling.

Somatic

Somatic Therapy recognises that our experiences are held not only in our thoughts and emotions but also within the body. Stress, anxiety, trauma, grief, and life challenges can often leave a lasting imprint on our nervous system, influencing how we feel, respond, and relate to ourselves and others. Phiona provides compassionate somatic support for individuals, children, couples, and groups, creating a supportive and welcoming space where people feel heard, understood, and valued. She works alongside each client to explore their thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and life experiences at a pace that feels safe and manageable. Alongside talking therapy, Phiona incorporates somatic approaches that gently invite awareness of the body's wisdom. By paying attention to physical sensations, movement, posture, breath, and nervous system responses, clients can begin to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their emotional experiences. This process can support greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and a stronger sense of connection between mind and body.

A woman with arms outstretched, enjoying the outdoors against a clear blue sky.

Somatic Resilience Therapy

Reconnecting Mind, Body, and Emotion

Somatic Resilience therapy is a holistic, body-based approach to healing that recognises the deep connection between our physical sensations, emotions, and life experiences.

While traditional talking therapy focuses primarily on thoughts, feelings, and verbal expression, somatic therapy invites the body into the conversation,  helping you access the wisdom, tension, and story that your body may be holding.

Somatic therapy works with both mind and body. Instead of relying solely on verbal processing, it brings attention to bodily sensations, breath, movement, posture, and the nervous system. Many emotional experiences become stored in the body, especially during stress, trauma, or long-term overwhelm. Somatic therapy helps release these patterns gently and safely.

Where talking therapy asks, “What are you thinking or feeling?”

Somatic therapy also asks, “Where do you feel it in your body, and what is your body communicating?”

Breathwork

Supporting self-regulation, presence, and emotional clarity. Phiona offers gentle, therapeutic breathwork sessions designed to support emotional regulation, reduce anxiety, and help you reconnect with your body and inner calm. Her grounded, compassionate presence creates a safe space for you to explore the healing power of your breath.

Breathwork refers to a range of conscious breathing techniques that support emotional, mental, and physical well-being. By bringing awareness to the breath and intentionally shifting breathing patterns, we can calm the nervous system, release stored tension, and create space for emotional healing.

Breath is more than a physical function, it’s a direct link to the subconscious, to unspoken emotions, and to the body’s natural ability to heal. Phiona’s breathwork sessions are guided with care, attentiveness, and respect for your individual pace and needs.

Whether you're completely new to breathwork or have tried it before, Phiona will guide you through simple yet effective practices tailored to help you feel safe, grounded, and in control.

Each session is a chance to pause, tune in, and reconnect with your body, your breath, and your sense of self. Through breath, you can gently begin to process what words may not yet be able to express.

Emotional Freedom Technique

Phiona is an advanced EFT practitioner who integrates tapping into her therapeutic work to help clients access and release stored emotional pain, shift self-sabotaging beliefs, and move towards greater emotional freedom and resilience.

As a skilled and intuitive practitioner, Phiona offers tailored EFT sessions that meet you exactly where you are. Her calm and grounded presence creates a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore what's holding you back and begin to gently let go.

Phiona has helped clients address subconscious barriers that prevent them from achieving their goals, whether that’s managing anxiety, improving relationships, or overcoming pain.

By tapping into the emotions, Phiona supports clients in uncovering the root causes of emotional distress and rewriting the narratives that may be limiting their potential.

Flower Remedies

Flower Remedies serve as a valuable resource for emotional healing, operating at a vibrational level to restore balance and harmony within our emotional states.

By addressing the foundational emotional layers that contribute to disturbances, flower essences facilitate the release of negative patterns and foster internal healing.

The application of flower remedies for emotional and vibrational healing offers a gentle yet profound approach to addressing emotional traumas, ultimately restoring equilibrium within the mind, body, and spirit.

Furthermore, flower remedies complement the various therapies offered by Phiona, providing gentle assistance in the journey of change and transformation.

Equine assisted Therapy

Phiona has been around horses from an early age and brings a lifetime of lived experience into her therapeutic work. She is an experienced rider, groom, and has worked as a riding instructor, having worked with event horses and within professional livery yards.

Over the years, her deep understanding of equine behaviour, care, and communication has naturally evolved into a therapeutic partnership. She now combines her extensive equestrian background with her counselling training and equine assisted therapy practice, creating a grounded, safe and relational approach for clients.

Importantly, you do not need any prior experience with horses to engage in equine assisted therapy. There is no riding involved. Sessions are ground-based and focus on simply sharing space with the horse in a calm and supported way.

Horses have a gentle, regulating presence. Being alongside them, noticing breath, posture, movement and connection. can help support your nervous system, increase awareness, and create opportunities for reflection and growth. The work unfolds at your pace, in a way that feels accessible and respectful.

Phiona’s Clinical Hypnotherapy, approach will guide you through a journey of healing, using the power of the subconscious mind to address and resolve the issues that limit your well-being and life potential.

How Clinical Hypnotherapy Can Help

Clinical hypnotherapy is a gentle yet effective therapeutic approach that works with your subconscious mind, the part of your mind that stores your beliefs, memories, and emotions.

Many of life's experiences are stored deep within the subconscious, often influencing your thoughts, behaviours, and emotional reactions in ways we may not fully understand.

By accessing and reshaping these patterns, hypnotherapy helps you break free from old, limiting beliefs and behaviours, and supports you in overcoming:

Past Life Regression

Refression and Past life hypnotherapy. Uncover the Root Cause of Repetitive Patterns. When other therapies have failed, regression therapy may be the key to unlocking healing. Traditional therapies may sometimes struggle to reach the heart of your challenges. If you're stuck in a cycle of repetitive behaviours, unresolved trauma, or negative patterns that continue to affect your life, Regression Therapy offers an alternative path to healing.

It allows you to safely explore the deeper causes of your struggles, including past life influences, unresolved emotional trauma, and subconscious imprints that are carrying over into this lifetime. Regression Therapy is a powerful technique that guides individuals back in time, either within their current life or past lives, to uncover the root causes of present-day challenges.

Unlike conventional therapies that work only in the present moment, regression therapy helps to reveal and release emotional and psychological blocks that may have originated long ago but continue to affect you today.

Specialist Support

Bereavement, Grief and Loss

Whether you are mourning a death, grieving a relationship, or adjusting to a significant life change, Phiona can support you in finding a way forward that feels right for you.

With extensive bereavement training through her work as a volunteer counsellor in a local hospice, The Blue Cross and alongside advanced bereavement studies, Phiona specialises in supporting people experiencing grief, loss, and life transitions.

Bereavement is not always about death. Grief can arise from many forms of loss, including the loss of a loved one, a cherished pet, family estrangement,  relationships, health, fertility, employment, independence, or significant life changes.

Another often overlooked form of loss is infertility and the challenges associated with trying to conceive. Whether you are male or female, infertility can have a significant impact on emotional wellbeing, identity, self-esteem, and relationships.

A person seated on a bench by a serene lake surrounded by autumn trees.

Bereavement can also arise through family estrangement. Whether you are a parent, child, sibling, or other family member, the loss of family relationships can bring complex emotions, unanswered questions, and a unique form of grief. Phiona has considerable experience supporting individuals affected by family estrangement, helping them to understand their feelings, develop resilience, and move forward with greater clarity and self-compassion.

Phiona has a particular interest in pet and companion animal loss. Drawing on her experience as a veterinary nurse and training with the Blue Cross Pet Bereavement Support Service, she understands the profound impact that losing an animal companion can have and offers compassionate support during these difficult times.

She also supports individuals affected by the death of a loved one, family estrangement, infertility, illness, disability, retirement, relationship changes, children leaving home, relocation, and other major life transitions.

Bereavement is not always about death. Grief is not always about letting go. Loss is not always about something that cannot be found.
